To mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on Wednesday, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev announced scholarships for all meritorious students of class 10 and 12 of CBSE, Bhartiya Shiksha Board, and all state boards across India.

“The students, who have secured first, second, and third positions will be awarded with cash awards of Rs 11, 21 and 51 thousand, respectively under the ‘Pradhanmantri Pratibha Purushkaar’ scheme this year to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday,” Ramdev, who runs Patanjali group of businesses, along with his associate Acharya Balkrishna, said while addressing a press conference in the national capital.

On the occasion, Ramdev exhorted the governments and the people of the country to make India strong by adopting ‘swadeshi’ (made in India) products. “We have to take the country forward. India needs to be stronger in all aspects, be it economy or education. We must come out of mental slavery,” he asserted, adding that India would soon have its rightful place in the world.

Talking about Hindi and other Indian languages, the Yoga guru said that the country’s languages must get their due respect and should be promoted over the foreign languages. “Whether it’s Hindi, Sanskrit, or any other Indian language, they should be given due importance,” he said, adding that we don’t oppose any foreign language as such.

He said Patanjali would be a partner with PM Modi in materialising his aim of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
